چکیده

The GPR is widely used for non-destructive evaluation of reinforced concrete structures. High resolution detection needed in order to differentiate between multiple targets present the host medium. This article aims numerically study vertical and horizontal resolutions associated reinforcing bars buried a structure made from by means inspection. Use was open source software GprMax2D considering three work frequencies: 1GHz, 1.6GHz 2GHz. method scanning assumed be according B-scan protocol which conducted along profile traced on surface inspected member. In situ measurements were bridge pillar MALÅ CX system with frequency centred 1.6 GHz. obtained results show that effective examination most steel can detected. After making correction, predicted conventional formula verified. However, real imposes minimum distance separating higher than proposed literature. due high conductivity yields strong reflection signal at first reached impedes significant secondary located below them.

Considering the Soil Effects on Design Process of Performance-Based Plastic Design for Reinforced Concrete Structures

In this research, Performance-Based Plastic Design (PBPD) method has been modified according to the proposed method for considering Soil–Structure Interaction (SSI) effects. In the proposed modified method, based on the existing relationships and in order to maintain the simplicity of the PBPD design method, two important parameters have been modified in the PBPD design method. These two parame...

Exploration of Set-based Design for Reinforced Concrete Structures

To explore the feasibility of improving the delivery process of reinforced concrete, we focus in this paper on reinforcing bars (rebar) used in cast-in-place (CIP) concrete. Specifically, we describe the methodology for set-based design of rebar that we are pursuing in an ongoing research effort. Set-based design makes it possible to maintain feasible solutions for longer in the design process ...

Improved GPR-based Condition Assessment of Reinforced Concrete Bridge Decks Using Artificial Neural Network

Accounting for the effect of rebar depth variation is one of the most important and challenging tasks to accurately assess the condition of reinforced concrete elements using ground penetrating radar (GPR) technique. In current practices, this task is performed on the individual basis, as for each bridge deck a unique depth correction model is derived from the GPR data collected on it. It is fo...

Evaluation of Seismic Response of Concrete Structures Reinforced by Shape Memory Alloys (Technical Note)

Shape memory alloys (SMAs) are unique smart materials that have many advantages, such as ability to resist large strains without leaving residual strains and ability to recover original form. However, the high costs of SMAs have limited their usage. This paper evaluates the behavior of concrete structures equipped with SMAs in an optimal manner as they are being used along the plastic hinge of ...
